All vacancies at the Kings Theatre will be posted on this page.
This is an outstanding opportunity to use your skills and expertise to guide the work of a long- standing and strategically important cultural trust in Portsmouth.
The Kings Theatre Trust Ltd was formed in 2000 to steward, operate and restore the Kings Theatre, after the strong local campaign to find a future for this much loved city landmark. Thirteen years on, the theatre is open and thriving. Much valuable work has been done to restore and repair it.
The Trust is now looking ahead to how the theatre must react and evolve to meet the challenges of the 21st century, and ensure that the building remains open to the whole community, provides a wide and varied programme of quality shows, and improves the building to ensure the audience get the best possible experience when they visit. This work will involve a multi-million pound project to radically improve the theatre, including bids to the National Lottery. This work must provide a financially stable base to deliver a world-beating theatre in the heart of the city as part of the regeneration programme, and to continue offering a regional education and heritage programme.
To deliver this vision and to ensure the long-term success of the trust we are recruiting additional trustees for several roles and are seeking effective members with a range of high level skills.
Ideal applicants will already have had some board experience and a senior management role with expertise in an area of relevance to the Trust such as strategic business guidance, financial and project management, heritage planning, fundraising, grant applications or HR .
You will have a strong commitment to the provision of culture and a desire to champion the involvement of customers in the process of continually improving the business. You will display a clear understanding of what non-executive leadership can bring to an organisation, be a strong influencer and communicator and have the ability to work within a complex and interdependent group structure, and the ability to challenge assumptions.
This is not a paid position although travel and other out-of-pocket expenses will be reimbursed. Your time commitment will be around 12 -20 days per annum.
For an informal discussion, please contact Ron Hasker, Chairman on 023 9285 2228.
