Talks and Tours
The Kings Theatre is one of the most complete Matcham theatres in the country and as such has a lot to offer to pupils and interested groups of all ages. Run by the Kings Theatre Trust since 2000, the theatre has been undergoing a programme of restoration using specialists in skills covering all areas of decorative and fine arts.
Public tours can be booked on via the box office, first Saturday of every month.

Tours - school and group tours are available. Tours take approximately an hour and a half and can be tailored to visiting group subject areas include; the history of the theatre, local history, social history or technical theatre.

Talks - with the theatre and it's restoration being of great interest, we can visit your group to deliver a presentation on the restoration and history of the building. How Mr Boughton, in 1906 was adamant that Southsea should have a theatre. What the trust found when they took the building on and how the restoration is progressing are all covered.
Show Workshops
The enthusiasm of a younger audience is something the Kings Theatre treasures, as we know children are keen to explore new and exciting ideas. So, this year we're offering schools free drama workshops and a tour of our wonderful theatre when schools or youth groups make a group booking for selected shows.
The purpose of these workshops is to offer a wide-ranging knowledge of theatre, as well as focusing on drama and acting as a way to discover, learn and improve confidence.
The workshops are 2 hours long and will be a chance for the children to explore the themes and motives of the characters in the show, then to be followed by a 45 minute tour of the theatre.
The maximum no. of children per workshop is 20.
