Complete Theatre Tour - including Backstage (Suitable for all)

Our most popular tour for visitors of all ages including schools and community group takes in the sights and views from all areas of the Magnificent Edwardian Theatre which was built over 100 years ago. Groups will be lead by Tour Guides who have a broad knowledge of the history of the building and how it has be restored in recent years. These tours are available for all ages and suitable for school and group visits.  Access to certain areas may be limited on some days due to the theatre programme.
The Complete Theatre Tour includes;
-    A tour of the theatre including access to all areas including backstage and a trip to the fly floor (over 16 years old only)
-    Tea and Coffees are available upon prior booking (small additional cost)


Backstage Theatre Tour (Suitable for all)
Access Backstage and explore that complexity of the Kings Theatre Stage. Discover what equipment is used and how a production or touring company set up for a production. Backstage Theatre Tours lead by a member of our theatre technical team who will guide students and groups on the specialist equipment and techniques used during a professional production.  (Trips to the fly floor are for over 16 year olds only).



Specialist Theatre Tours (Schools, Colleges and Youth Community  Groups only)
We are always expanding our Specialist Theatre Tours in order to accommodate specialist groups and tours that are linked to the national curriculum.  With the Specialist Tours your students will receive worksheets/information sheets to enhance their learning and experience.
We are currently developing a range of Specialist Tour and we are looking for students and teachers to develop material with our Education Department for your school or college and for future student to enjoy. Complete Theatre Tour & Workshop (Suitable for all)

Why not extend your trip by having a Complete Tour and Workshop on the stage our in one of our function rooms. We can plan your visit to accommodate your needs and requirements of the group. You will also benefit from a professional learning experience that your students or group will enjoy and linked to a topic or curriculum based activity.
 


Stage Workshop (Suitable for all)
Why not spend the morning or afternoon at the Kings Theatre and have tailored Stage Workshop for your school, college or community group. We are able to organise workshops specific to your needs and requirements through local qualified facilitators that are all CBR Checked and able to work with all ages.  Our most popular workshops are Stage Fighting and Arts & Crafts workshops. Please contact the Education Co-ordinator on how we can create a workshop suitable for your groups needs.

Offsite Talk (Social and Community Groups only)
Why not discover about the Kings Theatre at your venue or event by having one of our Board of Trustees visit your event or meeting.  You will discover and learn about the history of the Kings Theatre as well as the recent restoration of the building as well as the future of the building.
Our Offsite Talks are extremely popular with local community groups and events within the area of Portsmouth so do not hesitate to contact us.

Have a Free Tour for your School or College!
The Education Department is currently developing a number of different tour and workshop plans that are linked to the National Curriculum.
We are looking for you and your pupils to develop some tour and workshops activities for children of the future to enjoy and benefit more from their visit. If you are a Teacher or Lecturer and would like to get some of your pupils involved then we are interested in hearing from you.

-    Drama
-    Performing Arts
-    History
-    Modern Foreign Language
-    P.E
-    Science
The Education Department will provide you with some basic information about the history of theatre in order to help you develop your own tour or workshop plans.

Terms and Conditions

-    All workshop activities and plans must be related to the current national curriculum. This can be from any subject and any level of education.
-    Teachers and Pupils must demonstrate to the Education Co-ordinator that this activity is relevant and engaging to the target age group or level.
-    All workshop activities and plans must be submitted to the Kings Theatre prior to gaining a Free Tour or Workshop for your school or college at the Theatre.
